PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man was arrested Monday on investigation of reckless endangerment for allegedly shooting an inanimate object inside his house.
David G. Heath, 31, was booked into the Clallam County jail after Port Angeles police combed his residence on the 1100 block of East Caroline Street near Olympic Medical Center.
No one was injured in the shooting.
“We took into safe storage a quantity of firearms, and we’re in the process of writing our reports and making them available to the city attorney,” Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said.
Police closed the residential road east of the hospital after the shooting, which was reported to dispatchers at 12:08 p.m. Fire and medical personnel were staged as a precaution.
“There was a significant police response there,” Smith said.
After serving a search warrant and conducting interviews, police determined that one round was fired from a handgun for “a reason that was other than an accident,” Smith said.
It is illegal to discharge a firearm inside the city limit, Smith added.
