In response to the recent outbreak of H1N1 influenza (swine flu), Clallam County has received its allotment of antiviral medications and medical supplies from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Clallam County Health and Human Services (CCHHS) allotment includes antiviral medications (Tamiflu and Relenza), masks, gloves and gowns. CCHHS will have distributed 50% of the total Clallam County SNS medication allotment — enough to treat approximately 1,250 people — to local pharmacies in Clallam County by Wednesday.
Pharmacies in Clallam County distributing these antivirals are Jim’s Pharmacy, Rite Aid-Lincoln Pharmacy, QFC Pharmacy, and Chinook Pharmacy.
Although currently there are no probable or confirmed cases of H1N1 flu in Clallam County, CCHHS, in coordination with the state of Washington, is staging medications in case there are cases that need treatment or preventative care, the county said.
