State parks website to be updated soon

OLYMPIA — The state Parks and Recreation Commission recently announced that its online reservation system would be offline from Tuesday, Jan. 8 through Jan. 15.

During that week all campsites, day-use shelters and accommodations will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and payments must be made in cash.

According to a press release, the commission is fielding a new system to handle reservations for campsites, cabins, day-use facilities and group campsites.

When the new system is implemented, users will be able to make reservations for up to nine months into the future.

The new system will also allow users to book multiple sites at different parks in a single session.

Other enhancements will expedite check-in, make the system more easily navigated and improve usability on mobile devices.

The web address for the new system, www.parks.state.wa.us, is unchanged.
