NEWS BRIEFS: Shrimp head poppers are needed in Brinnon … and other items

BRINNON — The Brinnon Parks and Recreation District board members have issued a request for volunteers to pop heads, clean and package shrimp for freezing Friday.

Two shifts are planned at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Camp Parsons Boy Scout Camp kitchen facility at 970 Bee Mill Road.

The parks and recreation district is involved in a joint fundraising effort with the Emerald Towns Alliance.

Shrimp is to be sold the weekends of Memorial Day and Fourth of July.

All proceeds from this fund raising event will go back into the community.

“We feel we can sell as much shrimp as we did during last year’s ShrimpFest by aggressively conducting a sales campaign at Pleasant Harbor, the Dosewallips and Seal Rock state parks and the local events conducted by the Booster Club, the Senior Organization, and so on,” said officials with the district.

“We will have a booth at the Brinnon Community Center and other locations,” with more information to follow.

Volunteers are asked to send emails to info@brinnonparksandrec.org with which shifts they are available.

‘Wolf at the Door’

Tickets are $24 for Thursday and Sunday and $29 for Friday and Saturday via www.keycitypublictheatre.org and 360-385-5278.
