LA PUSH — A service commemorating a Coast Guard crew that lost their lives 20 years ago is planned today.
The service will be at Coast Guard Station Quillayute River, 350 Main St., from noon to 2 p.m.
The master chief petty officer of the Coast Guard will attend.
The crew of CG-44363 died while responding to a distress call Feb. 12, 1997.
Onboard were David A. Bosley, boatswain’s mate second class; Clinton P. Miniken, seaman; and Matthew E. Schlimme, machinery technician third class.
The plaque on the memorial at the Coast Guard station reads: “These poor plain men, dwellers upon the lonely shores, took their lives in their hands, and at the most imminent risk, crossed the most tumultuous sea … and all for what? That others might live to see home and friends.”
