PORT ANGELES — First Step Family Support Center recently earned an endorsement as a blue ribbon affiliate of Parents as Teachers National Center.
According to a press release, First Step performed a self assessment and then underwent a review by the center.
The blue ribbon affiliate endorsement means that a home visiting agency is properly implementing the Parents as Teachers model of care.
According to the Parents as Teachers website, the main components of its model are personal visits, group connections, resource networks and child screening.
Programs typically provide services to families from the prenatal period until kindergarten.
