NEWS BRIEFS: ‘Fall Fizzle’ potluck set for Sept. 29 … and other items

PORT ANGELES — The fifth annual Fall Fizzle will include a breakfast potluck Saturday, Sept. 29 for vintage trailer owners and vintage trailer enthusiasts.

The Fall Fizzle begins Sept. 28 at Salt Creek Recreational Area, 3506 Camp Hayden Road.

The breakfast potluck will be at 9 a.m. All interested are invited, even if they are not camped at Salt Creek.

Pumpkin carving will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29. Participants must bring their

own pumpkins. Carving tools and art supplies will be provided.

Storytimes set

The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) began Storytimes at NOLS this month for the 2018-19 school year.

Storytimes will be held at all three branch libraries through May 2019 with a two-week break from Dec. 24 to Jan. 4, 2019.

Baby storytime will be offered for children from birth to 24 months and a caregiver at 11:15 a.m. Fridays at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Wiggly storytime is offered for children aged 1 year through 3 years and an adult at 10:15 a.m. Thursdays at the Sequim library, 530 N. Sequim Ave., and at 10:30 a.m. Fridays at the Port Angeles Library.

Pre-school storytime is offered to children from 3 to 6 years of age and an adult at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the Port Angeles Library and at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Sequim Library.

The Forks Library, 171 Forks Ave., will host storytime for the entire family at 10:30 a.m. Fridays.

Also, the Sequim Library will host evening storytimes for the whole family at 6 p.m. Tuesdays until Oct. 16.

Annual public lands day scheduled

Saturday marks the 25th anniversary of National Public Lands Day.

Washington State Parks invites the public to visit any state park for free on this day, no Discovery Pass needed.

National Public Lands Day is coordinated by the National Environmental Education Foundation.

Two more State Parks free days are available in 2018.

They are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 11, and Friday, Nov. 23.

Skincare business to change hands

PORT TOWNSEND — Lyn Faas has sold Bunny’s Bath soap and skincare to Amy Pacifera.

Faas started the business 16 years ago from her Port Townsend home.

Pacifera, who moved to Port Townsend in December 2016, has a lifelong passion for natural products.

The business has two popular lines of skincare products; Bunny’s Bath and Milin Skincare.

Although the products were initially only sold at farmers markets, they are now found on the shelves of local stores such as the Food Co-op in Port Townsend, the Farm Stand in Chimacum and Country Aire in Port Angeles.

Hilary Franz to speak at fundraiser

PORT ANGELES — Hilary Franz will be the keynote speaker at the 2018 Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Club Seven, Seven Cedars Casino, 270756 U.S. Highway 101, Sequim.

The annual fundraiser starts with a meet and greet from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. followed by the dinner program from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Franz is the 14th Commissioner of Public Lands for the state of Washington.

Franz will speak on the topic of strengthening our lands and rural communities.

A silent auction will run throughout the evening.
