NEWS BRIEFS: Clallam Transit to provide bus service the day after Thanksgiving . . . and other items

PORT ANGELES — For the second straight year, Clallam Transit will provide regular bus service the day after Thanksgiving.

Fixed route and dial-a-ride buses will be on regular weekday schedules Friday, Nov. 27.

The Clallam Transit administration office in west Port Angeles, however, will be closed.

The office will reopen on Monday, Nov. 30.

Jefferson Transit also will provide bus service the day after Thanksgiving.

Clallam Transit eliminated day-after-Thanksgiving service during the recession years.

It is now evaluating ridership and community support for the service, agency officials said.

Open house reset

SEQUIM — The Blue Whole Gallery open house, an event celebrating the venue’s holiday art sale, has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Friday.

The Blue Whole, 129 W. Washington St., initially planned the open house for Tuesday, but stormy weather prompted organizers to postpone it.

Admission is free to Friday’s reception, which will feature festive food and drink, prize drawings and conversation with the Blue Whole’s member artists.

Visitors also will have a chance to see the range of art for sale: jewelry, fused glass, ceramics, ornaments, gourds, wood sculpture, paintings, photography, digital art, fiber art and holiday cards.

The holiday art sale will stay open through Dec. 28 at the Blue Whole, whose hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

The artists will close the venue for the holidays, though, for Thanksgiving on Nov. 26 and Christmas on Dec. 25.

More details await at 360-681-6033 and www.bluewholegallery.com.
