SEQUIM –– Susan Griffin, the new postmaster of the Sequim Post Office, is working to relieve some of the long lines that daily back from the counter out the front door.
A 26-year veteran of the United States Postal Service, Griffin has hired two new employees who started work this weekend and has plans to fill two more positions in the next month.
“I’m real happy to be here, and we’re going to do some things to make this post office run a little smoother for customers,” Griffin said.
“I’m amazed by this line, by how much this post office is used.”
Griffin took over duties in Sequim after serving the past two years as postmaster at Vashon Island.
Before that, she served in the same post in Miles City, Mont., and Ritzville.
Griffin currently lives in Poulsbo with her husband, Steve Hicks, who is postmaster at Hansville.
She said they plan to move to this area later in the year.
