NEAH BAY — When an old ferry the length of a city block pulls up to a dock in the Makah tribe’s coastal village, it’s bound to cause a stir.
Wednesday’s arrival of the 1935 art deco Kalakala has already inspired a hamburger.
In addition to the ground beef, the Kalakala burger features Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, a piece of bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise.
“Another Kalakala,” Makah Cafe chef David Butler shouted from the kitchen of the tribally owned and operated restaurant Wednesday afternoon.
