SEQUIM — The music of James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel and Kenny Loggins will fill St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., in the season’s first Music Live with Lunch concert at noon today (Tuesday).
This event, featuring local musicians Gary Prosser and Mark McConnell, is open to the public, with tickets at $10 including the hot lunch served in the parish hall following the concert.
Along with Loggins’ “Danny’s Song,” Taylor’s “Millworker” and Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Boxer,” the pair will do Gershwin’s “Summertime,” in a nod to the coming end of that time of year.
Music Live with Lunch, begun 25 years ago by the late Lou Yandell of Sequim, combines a 30-minute performance with lunch and camaraderie afterward. The monthly events run through May, and those who would like to attend all eight can buy season tickets for $70.
For reservations and information, phone the St. Luke’s parish office at 360-683-4862 or stop by between 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Thursday.
Tickets for each Music Live with Lunch are sold at the door, too.
Like all of the participating musicians, Prosser and McConnell are donating their time for Tuesday’s concert. Prosser, a retired airline pilot, lives in Diamond Point and plays in two local bands, the Discovery Bay Pirates and Final Approach.
McConnell spent much of his life touring the world as a solo artist and with his band, Handpicked. These days he lives in Port Angeles and teaches guitar to a range of students.
