PORT ANGELES — Eric Munger was promoted from deputy/detective to sergeant by Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict during a swearing-in ceremony last week.
The event was held in the Emergency Operations Center at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.
He is a lifelong resident of Clallam County, graduating from Port Angeles High School in 1991 and Peninsula College, with an Associate of Applied Sciences degree in criminal justice in 1994.
He has been employed by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office since 2004.
Prior to becoming a deputy, Munger was a police officer for the city of Forks for several years.
Munger served as a West End deputy for a time after being hired by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office and was transferred to the Port Angeles area several years ago.
At the beginning of 2013, he was appointed as a detective and worked major cases for most of this year.
Munger will assume supervision of a day-shift patrol team that is assigned to cover the Port Angeles/Sequim area.
Munger succeeds Sgt. Nick Turner, who retired from the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office after almost 30 years.
