Motorcyclist hospitalized after striking deer on U.S. Highway 101 west of Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday morning when his motorcycle struck a deer on U.S. Highway 101 west of Port Angeles.

At 9:43 a.m., Randall C. Boucher, 58, of Port Angeles was riding a blue 1984 Honda GL1200 motorcycle westbound on Highway 101 near Dry Creek, about 4 miles west of Port Angeles, according to a State Patrol report.

The Honda struck a deer crossing the roadway, and Boucher was thrown from the motorcycle.

He and the motorcycle came to rest on the westbound shoulder, and the deceased deer landed in the roadway.

Boucher was taken to Olympic Medical Center by ambulance. His condition was not available Wednesday afternoon.

The State Patrol report said Boucher was wearing a helmet, and neither drugs nor alcohol were thought to have contributed to the wreck.

No charges are pending, and the cause of the wreck was listed as “animal in the roadway.”
