Motorcycle rider airlifted after Highway 101 wreck south of Brinnon

State Patrol: Port Angeles man failed to negotiate curve

BRINNON — A motorcycle rider was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after a wreck on U.S. Highway 101 south of Brinnon on Sunday morning.

A State Patrol memo said Danny J. Harrelson of Port Angeles, 63, crashed the Harley Davidson motorcycle after failing to negotiate a curve.

Harborview Medical Center staff said Harrelson was still in the Emergency Department at 5 p.m. and his condition was not available.

State Trooper Chelsea Hodgson said the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the wreck.

The crash happened at milepost 309 and was reported at about 11:09 a.m. Sunday.

Brinnon Fire Chief Tim Manly said the rider, who was traveling southbound, suffered “multi-system trauma” when he left the roadway and drove into a ditch.

The State Patrol memo said drugs or alcohol were involved in the wreck, but that the cause and any possible charges remained under investigation.

The memo said Harrelson was wearing a helmet that was not compliant with the U.S. Department of Transportation.
