PORT ANGELES — A 70-year-old woman was taken to Olympic Medical Center after falling ill while driving in downtown Port Angeles and hitting a pickup truck.
Witnesses said a white Buick driven by the woman, whose name was not immediately available, was heading eastbound on East First Street at about 2 p.m. Thursday and coasted for about 50 yards before colliding with a truck stopped at Oak Street, said Port Angeles Police Officer Brian Stamon.
She had suffered some type of medical emergency, police said.
“She was unresponsive but breathing when we reached her,” Stamon said.
Traffic on First Street was backed up to Tumwater Truck Route and was restricted to one lane until the wreck was investigated and cleared.
There was no apparent injury to the man driving the truck, Stamon said.
No charges are expected, pending the medical report, he said.
