Master Gardener to tell how to grow plants from cuttings at Sequim class June 20

SEQUIM — Veteran Master Gardener Rosalie Preble will demonstrate how to propagate hardy shrubs such as heathers, fuchsias, hydrangeas and small rhododendrons from softwood cuttings Saturday, June 20.

The presentation, part of the Class Act at Woodcock Garden series sponsored by the Washington State University Clallam County Master Gardeners, will be at noon at the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road.

It will be free and open to the public. However, donations to help offset copying costs for handouts will be accepted.

Preble will explain how to determine what plants are most appropriate for cutting propagation and how to know when to take cuttings.

She will demonstrate how to take cuttings from the parent plant and how to prepare them for planting.

Preble grew up in a gardening family and has been gardening in the Sequim area for 18 years.

She has served as president of the Master Gardener Foundation of Clallam County and is a recipient of the Golden Trowel Award for her achievements and contributions to the Clallam County Master Gardeners.
