MARROWSTONE ISLAND — Public comment on Morningtide Golf Course’s application for water rights for irrigation are premature.
According to Sandy Howard, a state Department of Ecology spokeswoman, the public comment period on golf course owner Wally Barclay’s application does not start until July 31.
Howard said Ecology has received 31 letters commenting on the water allocation project, apparently in response to a newspaper advertisement from a private citizen that listed the department’s address.
The department’s own advertised public notice of the application states that the starting date for the comment period is July 31.
Comments received prior to Wednesday must be resubmitted to be accepted as formal protests, Howard said.
