PORT HADLOCK — A 20-year-old man was flown to a Seattle hospital after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and struck a utility pole, the State Patrol said.
Evan Amaral of Port Orchard was traveling southbound on state Highway 19 at Patison Street at a high rate of speed in a 2016 Subaru BRZ sports car about 6:19 p.m. Friday when he crossed the center line and struck the pole on the northbound shoulder, the State Patrol said.
Amaral was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the State Patrol. He was wearing a seat belt, the agency said.
The State Patrol cited the cause as negligent driving.
The vehicle, which was totally destroyed, was towed from the scene by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the State Patrol said.
