Make-A-Wish to bring ‘Twilight’-smitten teen to Forks

FORKS — Next week, Forks will dazzle a teen whose greatest wish is to visit the town where Bella Swan and Edward Cullen were brought together.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation contacted the Forks business Dazzled by Twilight a couple months ago when 17-year-old Brooke from Orange County, Calif., asked to visit the town for her wish.

Brooke asked the foundation not to release her last name or illness.

Make-A-Wish makes dreams realities for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Annette Root, owner of Dazzled by Twilight, said she was happy to coordinate and donate much of the wish.

“I’m excited,” she said. “I used to do wish coordinating when I lived in the Tri-Cities, so it was a really exciting thing to be contacted to be part of the wish.

“It is amazing that someone who could choose anything that would be the best experience possible wants to come here with us,” she added.

Brooke and her family will stay at Oceanside Resort in LaPush, owned by the Quileute tribe.

The rest of the wish was donated by Dazzled by Twlight.

Brooke will arrive in Seattle on Monday and dine at the Space Needle before traveling to Forks the next day.

Tuesday through Thursday she will explore Forks with an official tour of the city and eat at the newly opened Lodge in Forks, also owned by Root.

She will wrap up her trip July 2 by watching the third movie of the “Twilight” saga, “Eclipse” at an IMAX theater in Seattle.

Twilight, which was released in 2005, tells the tale of vampire Edward Cullen and human Bella Swan who fall in love in Forks.

All four novels in the series — including sequels New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn — have also remained on the best-seller list since 2006.

The eponymous first movie was released in November 2008 and the second in November 2009.

“Eclipse” will open Wednesday.
