‘Little Shop of Horrors’ opens tonight in Forks

FORKS — While the West End is famous for its lush greenery, a plant that is, thankfully, not native takes over the town of Forks this weekend as the Rainforest Players present the musical “Little Shop of Horrors.”

The production opens at the Rainforest Arts Center, 35 N. Forks Ave., at 7 p.m. tonight.

It continues with 7 p.m. shows Saturday and March 19 and 20.

There is a 2 p.m. show Sunday.

Tickets are $8 adults and seniors, $5 students, available at the door.

The story follows the growth of both the meek Seymour Krelborn and the not-so-meek carnivorous plant, Audrey II.

Seymour is in love with Audrey I, who is dating a sadistic dentist.

Seymour and Audrey I work at Mushnik’s Skid Row Florist, and life changes for everyone when Seymour discovers a strange and wonderful new plant — which has a lust for raw meat, preferably human.

The show features lively music written by Alan Menken, with lyrics and book by Howard Ashman.

The Rainforest Players production features Victor Velazquez as Seymour, Sandra Velasquez as Audrey and Sergei Shapovolov as Orin Scrivello, the dentist.

Also appearing are Gerry Morris as Mr. Mushnik, Tracy Gillett as the voice of Audrey II, Anna Sinclair as Bernstein, Brynn Peterson as Skip Snip and Makenzie Weston as Patricia Martin.

Performing as the onstage backup singers, The Ronettes, are Eliza Barragan, Brooklyn Bauer, Sehar Bokhari, Shelby Lane and Alissa Shaw.

Nearly 150 people provided feedback about a new Hurricane Ridge Lodge project following the 2023 fire that destroyed the original structure. Nine easels were set up with questions and notes were provided for people to express their goals for a new lodge. The earliest construction can begin is in 2028, and it would take two to three years to complete, weather permitting. (Dave Logan/for Peninsula Daily News)
