Library talk to promote books for girls on Thursday

PORT HADLOCK — The Thursdays for Kids and Teens after-school program at the Jefferson County Library will host a free talk by Erica Bauermeister, co-author of Let’s Hear it for the Girls: 375 Great Books for Readers 2-14.

Admission is free to the program at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the library at 620 Cedar Ave., and youngsters age 6 to 18 are especially invited.

Bauermeister’s Let’s Hear It for the Girls is a guide to books with strong female protagonists.

These books are arranged alphabetically by title in four age ranges, with indexes by author, time period, subject and setting.

In addition to Bauermeister’s talk, a suggested reading list promoting strong female characters for readers age 6-18 will be available.
