PORT ANGELES — Authorities continued their search Monday for a longtime Sequim resident who allegedly stole six firearms — including a semi-automatic AK-47 rifle — and more than $20,000 in cash from the Port Angeles-area residence of an acquaintance.
Marlon John Lamprecht, 23, a convected felony bail-jumper, is wanted for investigation of first-degree burglary, first-degree theft, six counts of theft of a firearm and five counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, Detective Sgt. John Keegan of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.
Keegan said Lamprecht was last seen shopping at Costco in Sequim at about 7 p.m. Saturday shortly before a warrant was served at his residence.
Keegan said none of the stolen weapons was loaded.
Keegan said all but a 12-gauge shotgun was recovered from Lamprecht’s Ryser Avenue residence upon the execution of a search warrant.
The recovered guns were the AK-47, a .22-caliber handgun, a .30-06 hunting rifle, a .30/30 lever action sporting rifle and a 22-caliber semiautomatic sporting rifle.
But about $19,000 in cash is still missing.
Keegan said a Facebook post was key to identifying Lamprecht as a suspect.
He gave the following account of the burglary and its aftermath:
The guns and cash were in a safe that was stolen between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. June 15 from a Hidden View Drive residence off O’Brien Road between Port Angeles and Sequim.
Several witnesses saw a vehicle leave the residence at a high rate of speed at about 10 a.m. that morning.
The victim, who has not seen Lamprecht for about a year, suspected Lamprecht of committing the burglary.
The victim learned from looking at Lamprecht’s Facebook page that a day before the burglary, Lamprecht had been associating with 30-year-old Quinta Huggins, a Port Angeles woman who had posted a photograph of her truck on her Facebook account.
The photograph matched the description given by witnesses of the vehicle seen speeding away from the burglary victim’s residence.
Authorities who served a search warrant on Lamprecht’s residence Saturday evening recovered $300 of the stolen cash, five of the guns and parts to the gun safe including the lock, which matched the victim’s key.
The money was arranged in stacks in a unique way identified by the victim.
Lamprecht was not present at the residence, and an emergency felony warrant was issued for his arrest.
Authorities then served a warrant at Huggins’ last known address on West 10th Street in Port Angeles. She was not there.
They found about $300 more in cash and several new items of clothing and electronics that were located in vehicles at Huggins’ residence — including inside the truck allegedly used in the burglary.
Keegan said authorities have not issued a warrant for Huggins’ arrest but still want to talk to her about the burglary.
Lamprecht does not have a working vehicle but does have close relatives and friends in the area.
“He’s still probably on the Olympic Peninsula,” Keegan said.
“He has ties to the community he probably will have to rely on.”
Keegan urged anyone who spots Lamprecht to contact authorities and not approach him.
“We still have a firearm out there,” Keegan said.
“He did break into somebody’s house in the middle of the day, so I would let law enforcement handle his apprehension.”
