PORT ANGELES — A public meeting will be held Saturday to update residents on the eradication of Eurasian watermilfoil in Lake Sutherland.
The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St.
Jennifer Parsons, an aquatic plant expert with the state Department of Ecology, will discuss methods the agency will use to kill the infestation.
Small patches of Eurasian Watermilfoil, an aggressive weed that chokes plant and fish life, were found in Lake Sutherland last year. The weed was apparently brought into the lake by boaters.
The Clallam County Noxious Weed Control Program is sponsoring Saturday’s meeting.
