La Push woman injured in highway wreck north of Hoquiam

ABERDEEN — A La Push woman was injured after she fell asleep at the wheel and crashed an SUV north of Hoquiam early Saturday, the State Patrol said.

Angela R. Black, 44, was headed southbound on U.S. Highway 101 when the 2001 Ford Expedition she was driving left the roadway to the right and entered a ditch, troopers said in a collision memo.

Black overcorrected to the left and overcorrected again to the right before the vehicle flipped and rolled 2½ times, landing on its top in the northbound lane, the State Patrol said in a collision memo.

There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

Black was taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.

A nursing supervisor did not return a call seeking Black’s listed condition Saturday.

The wreck was reported at 4 a.m. Saturday near Milepost 113, about 24 miles north of Hoquiam.

Black was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

Drugs or alcohol were not involved.

The SUV was totaled and taken to an Aberdeen wrecking yard.

Black was cited with second-degree negligent driving, the State Patrol said.
