JOYCE — Construction may start as early as October on a sidewalk along state Highway 112 that will link the Crescent school complex with the Clallam Transit stop at the Joyce General Store.
Clallam County commissioners Tuesday approved building the 6-foot-wide path under a cooperative agreement with the school district and the state Department of Transportation.
The project will cost $11,000 and include a 6-foot-wide crosswalk across Highway 112 near the Joyce Cafe.
County crews will perform all the work, according to County Engineer Ross Tyler.
The state will supply equipment, and the school district will repay the county with funds from a federal Safe Routes to Schools grant.
The district will maintain the sidewalk.
