Jennifer Horton crowned Sequim Irrigation Festival queen

SEQUIM — Jennifer Horton was barely able to keep her emotions in check Saturday night after being selected queen for the 107th Sequim Irrigation Festival.

Maggie Hooker, Cortney Obregon and Jennifer Lamb were named princesses of the end of the 2½ hour pageant in the Performing Arts Auditorium of Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

“I’m feel so emotional now,” a shaking Horton said as the post-pageant reception started. “I’m very excited. I feel very lucky.”

Horton, the 17-year-old daughter of Guy and Lynn Horton, wasn’t completely surprised at being named to the festival’s royal court.

“I felt in my heart that I’m a good person to represent Sequim, and I thought I might get a position in the royal court,” Horton said.

Horton is the captain of the high school cheerleading team and she plans to attend Peninsula College and University of Washington in the future.

The royal court receives scholarships.

Hooker, 17, is the daughter of Rob and Penny Hooker.

Obregon, 17, is the daughter of George and Patty Obregon.

Lamb, 16, is the daughter of John and Theresa Lamb. Hooker is a senior at the high school while Lamb and Obregon are juniors.
