PORT HADLOCK — Jefferson County Undersheriff Ken Sukert is dropping out of the race for Jefferson County sheriff.
Sukert, 49, of Port Hadlock announced his withdrawal Tuesday afternoon in an e-mail sent to the Peninsula Daily News and confirmed it that evening.
“This was probably one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but it is the right decision for my family, as well as for the citizens of Jefferson County and me,” Sukert said in the e-mail.
“I will continue to support the citizens of Jefferson County to the best of my ability. I will support the elected sheriff.”
