Jefferson County can save more than $38,250 on its water meter reading plans for Marrowstone Island if it accepts a utility district proposal.
Jefferson County Public Utility District No. 1 commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday night to lend the county 75 water meters worth $11,250 and a car-mounted meter-reading system worth $27,000. Utility district staff would also read the meters.
“We want them to get this thing going,”‘ utility Commissioner Wayne King said. “The people need to get this solved.”
The utility district will officially make the offer to the county Monday.
