PORT LUDLOW — The U.S. Navy is considering a proposal to permanently home port a supply ship at Naval Magazine Indian Island as it increasingly relies on the base for day-to-day operations.
Already, millions of dollars in improvements, mostly bolstering security, are under way, Cmdr. Eduardo Jaramillo, the base’s executive officer, told the Port Ludlow Chamber of Commerce during a luncheon Tuesday.
Substantial infrastructure improvements are needed before a ship can be berthed at the ordnance center, Jaramillo said.
