PORT HADLOCK — The Army’s massive movement of personnel and equipment from Indian Island to Fort Lewis is expected to wind down as early as today.
Since 15 Stryker Brigade convoys began moving from the naval ordnance station last Saturday, regular convoy traffic has been seen through Port Hadlock, Chimacum and across the Hood Canal Bridge without incident since then.
The last of the convoys are expected late today or Thursday, the Army said.
A week has passed since the USNS Altair, a 947-foot cargo ship, sailed into Port Townsend Bay carrying about 700 Stryker armored vehicles, humvees and tractor trailers.
Army personnel have set up shop in several parts of the Indian Island ordnance center.
