PORT HADLOCK — There are still some jobs open at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Thirty-eight people have applied to be corrections officers at the jail, and now 9-1-1 dispatchers are being sought.
Only four people had applied originally for the four open jail jobs and it looked like testing for the spots was going to be canceled last month.
After a plea to the community for applicants for the living-wage jobs, Mike Brasfield said the number of responses was “tremendous.”
Of the 38 applicants, all but one showed up to take the test, he said.
“We’ve got a good pool of people to choose from,” he said Thursday.
While testing for more corrections officer positions isn’t scheduled, JeffCom, the county’s 9-1-1 dispatch center is looking for a few good people.
