PORT TOWNSEND — Mail-in ballots go out Wednesday to registered voters in the appropriate voting districts for the Sept. 16 primary election.
The two contested election races in Jefferson County will be conducted by mail and in person at neighborhood polls.
There are 12,710 registered voters in Jefferson County, and 62.2 percent, or 7,900, vote by mail.
Mail-in ballots are due back at the county Courthouse by not later than 8 p.m. Sept. 16, or they must be postmarked by that date.
On the primary ballot are three men for Jefferson County commissioner District 3 and five men for Port of Port Townsend commissioner District 1.
The top two vote-getters in each race will advance to the Nov. 4 general election. Mail-in ballots for the general election will be mailed to voters Oct. 15.
