Jefferson County commissioner candidates who campaigned at all on a wet, windy Monday opted to pick up the phone to make last-minute voter calls.
That ended their campaigns as Election Day arrives in the county and across the nation today.
Polls close at 8 p.m., and County Auditor Donna Eldridge said voters are welcome to visit her office tonight on the second floor of the county courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
Updated election results will appear on the county’s Web site at www.co.jefferson.wa.us.
For Democratic Party aficionados who don’t want to sit in front of a computer all evening, an 8 p.m. Jefferson County Democratic election party is planned at the Upstage Theatre and Restaurant, 923 Washington St., Port Townsend.
No formal gathering was announced for Republican election night watchers.
But an Election Night Non-Partisan Party, sponsored by the Friends of the Library and Jefferson County League of Women Voters, starts when polls close at 8 p.m. at the Port Townsend Public Library, 1220 Lawrence St.
Election results will be monitored on broadcast and cable TV networks, and refreshments will be served.
