Jefferson County veterans bell-ringing scheduled for April 20

PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County veterans will sponsor a memorial bell ringing ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20.

The memorial service will be held on the front steps of the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St.

The biannual service honors Jefferson County service-members and veterans who have died in the previous six months.

The service provides an opportunity for the community to pay their respects to our veterans and their families.

Each veteran’s name will be read, along with their branch of service, conflict and awards if applicable followed by the ringing of the bell.

A piper will play “Amazing Grace” after all names have been read, the American Legion’s Marvin G. Shields Memorial Post No. 26 will present a 21-gun salute and a bugler will play taps.

The public is welcome to attend the free service.

For more information, call Andy Okinczyc at 360-821-9962.
