PORT TOWNSEND — Thirty-eight restaurants and other full-service food establishments in Jefferson County will receive awards for safe food handling on Thursday.
The Jefferson County Public Health Department’s outstanding achievement awards will be presented at the Jefferson County Board of Health meeting at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
The board will meet at 615 Sheridan St.
“These 38 restaurants and proprietors have worked hard to maintain the highest level of food safety standards,” said Dana Fickeisen, food safety specialist with the county public health department, in a statement.
“They are full service restaurants that work with complex menus so they have added food safety challenges.
“We like to recognize them for their dedication to preventing illness.”
Criteria for the award, developed by the public health department’s food service advisory committee, required evaluations of personal hygiene, food temperature safety and prevention of contamination.
All food workers must hold current state food worker cards.
The full-service food establishments, and their proprietors, receiving the award are:
