The Port Townsend City Council and Jefferson County commissioners approved an agreement Monday to help resolve their differences over the future of Glen Cove.
And that means bringing in an independent expert to assess the industrial future, if any, of the area on the edge of Port Townsend.
The City Council voted 6-0 to authorize City Manager David Timmons to execute a memorandum of understanding between the two governments regarding boundary designations at Glen Cove.
The agreement, which was also approved unanimously by county commissioners Monday, comes following the county’s plans to rezone 60 acres from rural residential to light industrial in the area as a means to boost commercial development — a move opposed by the city.
