Jefferson County lawyers favor Port Townsend attorney Craddock Davis Verser to be the next Superior Court judge.
Results in a Jefferson County Bar Association poll showed that attorneys ranked Verser — who has been selected as a finalist by Gov. Gary Locke and his chief legal counsel — as No. 1.
The second-highest vote-getter went to a lawyer who didn’t make Locke’s finalist list: William Charles Henry, 64.
Locke’s three finalists for the position that pays $108,300 annually are Verser, 54, Karen Gates Hildt, 60, and Rebekah Ruth Ross, 46.
The other applicants were Henry and Michael Edward Haas, 42.
The bench was vacated last month by the death of Thomas J. Majhan, who was undergoing cancer treatment at the time.
