Three more attorneys have applied to be Jefferson County next Superior Court judge bringing the field to five to succeed Judge Thomas J. Majhan, who died last month.
Today is the final day for applications to be received, said Jennifer Joly, the governor’s general counsel.
Gov. Gary Locke is expected to choose the new judge by the end of the month.
Applying this week were Michael Edward Haas, Rebekah Ruth Ross and Craddock Davis Verser. They joined William Charles Henry and Karen A. Gates Hildt who applied last week.
Joly will interview the candidates for the $108,300 a year position on Tuesday in Port Townsend.
Also on Tuesday, county members of the Washington State Bar Association will hold a forum to interview the candidates. The forum is open to members of the Bar.
Recommendations from the Bar will help Gov. Gary Locke make his decision, which is expected around Feb. 27, Joly said. He will interview candidates Feb. 16.
The appointed jurist will serve until after the November general election.
