PORT TOWNSEND — The rear end of a horse on its way to a starring role in the movie “Ring” was the only glimpse spectators got Wednesday of mammals acting in the multimillion-dollar production.
Port Townsend’s dark weather wrapped its cold fingers around actors, director and crew — just what director Gore Verbinski wanted for his suspense-horror remake of a Japanese film.
“The director really, really wanted the weather to be dark — he likes that look,” publicist Alex Worman said.
“With a creepy suspense thriller you want it to look gloomy with smoke coming out of people’s mouths.”
And a chiller it was.
The southerly wind of 15 mph to 20 mph brought a wind-chill factor that dropped temperatures from 43 degrees to just 26 degrees, according to the Jefferson County weather station on the Internet.
