SHINE — The Hood Canal Bridge reopened to traffic at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday after being closed for nearly seven hours because of high winds.
The state Department of Transportation issued a bulletin saying that the span closed at 1:43 p.m. Thursday and would remain so until further notice.
Heavy wind action required opening the drawspan to relieve pressure on the bridge. Crews had been on-scene to open the bridge to traffic when winds would allow, according to Transportation.
A bulletin announcing the reopening of the bridge went out at about 8:30 p.m.
