PORT ANGELES — Among the 340 degrees and certificates awarded at the Peninsula College commencement ceremony on Saturday will be one for a student who wasn’t able to graduate.
Jared Nagel died while snowboarding in February.
The former Peninsula College soccer forward will be granted an honorary degree.
His parents, Joyce and Scott Nagel, will be presented with his diploma, said Tom Keegan, college president.
The ceremony will be at 2 p.m. in the gymnasium on the main Port Angeles campus at 1502 E, Lauridsen Blvd.
Nagel, a sophomore at Peninsula College who was due to graduate either this quarter or next, was killed while snowboarding at Stevens Pass in the mountains 65 miles east of Everett.
He had graduated from West Salem High School in Oregon in 2006.
Nagel was a leader for the soccer team, Coach Andrew Chapman has said.
