Two ship’s anchors, each weighing about 15 tons and standing 13 feet tall, arrive Thursday afternoon at the Port of Port Angeles for emergency installation on the oil tanker Alaskan Frontier, tied up at the Terminal 1 dock.
The 941-foot Alaskan Frontier and a sister Alaska Tanker Co. tanker, Alaskan Navigator, also 941 feet long, each lost an anchor in heavy seas en route from Alaska to the West Coast earlier this month.
The Frontier‘s lost anchor and remaining one – found to be cracked – are being replaced. The Navigator is having identical work done in Seattle.
