A Clallam County Health and Human Services official on Monday urged county commissioners to support a $100,000 grant to help keep the county’s Forks Public Health Office operating.
“Without these funds and threats of losing state revenue, the delivery of services in the Forks area are threatened with reduction or elimination,” said JoAnne Dille, county Health and Human Services administrator.
County health officials seek Rural Health Viability Grant funds through the Washington Health Foundation, and must do so by March 1, Dille said.
The grant program provides short-term support to vulnerable health-care providers — including public health agencies — to preserve local health services in rural areas.
The department was awarded a $50,000 grant to operate between July 1, 2002 to June 30, 2003.
The new grant would run from July 1 to June 30, 2004.
