Grand finales at Clallam County Fair today [ *** GALLERY *** ]

PORT ANGELES — Two highlights of the Clallam County Fair are scheduled today, one traditional and one brand-new: the demolition derby at 5 p.m. and the inaugural Clallam County Fair Talent Show at 2 p.m.

Tickets for the demolition derby in the grandstand go on sale today at

9 a.m. outside the yellow gate at the fairgrounds at 1608 W. 16th St., Port Angeles.

Tickets are $11. That’s in addition to daily fair admission, which is $8 for adults, $6 for students and senior citizens, and $5 for children ages 6-12, with children 5 and younger admitted free.

Opening times

Gates open at 8:30 a.m., with buildings opening at 10 a.m. Both close at 7 p.m. today, the final day of the four-day fair.

The carnival opens at noon and continues until the fair closes.

The talent show on the Wilder Stage will present 15 acts by people living in Port Angeles and Sequim.

Performances will range from singing and dancing to juggling and yodeling.

Prizes will be announced at 5 p.m. First place will get $200, second place will receive $150, and third place will be given $50.

Performances

Acts at the talent show today will be acoustic guitarist and Christian music singer Dillan Witherow of Port Angeles, musicians John Doster and Ross Gustin of Port Angeles High School, dancer Kristina Holtrop of Sequim, country-pop a capella singer Stephanie Royal of Port Angeles, singer-guitarist Bailey Bryan of Sequim, singer-guitarist Melinda Gelder of Port Angeles, the musical Helwick Family of Port Angeles and singer Mercedes Harris of Port Angeles.

Also, the Red, White & New Band of Sequim, pianist Nathanael Mullins of Port Angeles, yodeling cowgirl Wanda Bumgarner of Port Angeles, a musical skit by the Halberg Sisters of Port Angeles, singer Sarah Leinnar of Port Angeles, Daniel’s Bag of Tricks juggling act from Sequim and hip-hop artists Joey Pohl, Julian Huxtable and Brandon Sproed of Port Angeles will perform.

Before the demolition derby in the grandstand, fairgoers can see the second day of a rodeo, which will begin at noon.

The Olympic Peninsula Fly Fishers will demonstrate fly-tying in the hobb­ies and crafts barn from noon to 6 p.m. today.

Other demonstrations will run continuously throughout the fair in the art, agricultural and dog barns.

Animal shows are in barns and arenas throughout the fairgrounds, and entertainment on the Wilder Stage and Sunny Farms Center Stage is scheduled.
