Funeral home company with North Olympic Peninsula properties merges with national chain

The parent company of Olympic Care Group, which operates seven funeral homes and cemeteries in Clallam County, has merged with Florida-based Keystone Group, which operates 97 funeral homes in the East and Midwest.

The merger will create one of the largest chains in the nation with 177 funeral homes.

The combined businesses will operate as Keystone North America, which will be listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

All employees of the combined business will continue in their present positions, according to a statement from the newly-formed Keystone Group Holdings Inc.

In Clallam County, Olympic Care Group operates Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Olympic Cremation Association and Mount Angeles Memorial Park in Port Angeles, Sequim Valley Chapel and Sequim View Cemetery, Mount Olympus Funeral Home in Forks, and Dungeness Cemetery.

“It’s a great deal. I’m very upbeat about the merger and the opportunity to serve our community,” said Harper-Ridgeview General Manager Dennis Niva.

“The community will be enhanced by the merger.

“I think the community will be happy with it, too. We sure are.”
