Free outdoor concerts slated this week

Free outdoor concerts will fill the air with bluegrass in Port Angeles and funk rock and soul in Port Townsend this week.

The concert in Port Angeles will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at City Pier.

The Weavils will perform bluegrass music.

This is part of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Concert on the Pier series. Concerts are every Wednesday through Sept. 5 at City Pier.

City Pier is a no-smoking, no-skateboards, alcohol-free venue. Some chairs are available for disabled people and early arrivals.

The concert in Port Townsend will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Pope Marine Park-City Dock Civic Plaza.

The Better Half will perform funk rock and soul.

The Port Townsend Concerts on the Dock music series will continue each Thursday through Sept. 6.

Food vendors and a beer and wine garden are available. Seating opens at 5 p.m.

Music is sponsored by local businesses, the Port Townsend Main Street Program, Puget Sound Energy and the city of Port Townsend.

Sequim’s Music in the Park series takes place Tuesday.

Concerts are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday at the James Center for the Performing Arts through Aug. 28.

Next Tuesday: Karaoke Idol, a contest for non-professionals 13 and older.
