SEQUIM – The landmark red building is ready to settle into its new . . . well . . . land.
The building, formerly Sequim Town Hall, was moved Sunday from the original location on Cedar Street to 170 Bell St.
Jack and Helga McGhee, who purchased the building in October, have wanted the building since buying the former St. Luke’s Episcopal Church building – now Jean’s Deli – about 11 years ago.
“When we first moved Jean’s Deli to where it is, we told the city that if they ever vacated the [town hall] building we sure would love to have it,” Helga McGhee said.
“It took us 11 years, but we got it,” she said.
The couple bid $1,001 in a silent auction in October for the 1914 building, moved to make space for an eventual City Hall on Cedar Street.
They estimated that it would cost about $15,000 to $20,000 to move it to the new location.
