PORT ANGELES — Billy Lindell had talent to spare, and was a highly regarded drummer in the local music scene.
He started out drawing, but then his attention turned to music — heavy metal rock ‘n’ roll to be exact.
“One day he ended up with a drum set,” said Wade Griffith, Lindell’s cousin, who added that just a few years later his skills were in high demand.
“Everybody wanted him.”
On Sunday, Lindell, 24, was killed at his apartment in Worcester, Mass.
Investigators believe a former roommate along with some friends robbed Lindell, killed him and then set fire to the apartment to conceal the crime.
So far six people have been charged in connection into Lindell’s death in the town about 45 miles west of Boston.
Moved a year ago
The 2000 Port Angeles High School graduate had moved to the East Coast about a year ago to be with his girlfriend and her ailing father, Griffith said.
The roommate had not paid rent, Griffith said, and was asked to move out.
“Billy was real civil; he helped him move stuff out,” Griffith said.
“The next day he came back with five of his friends.”
Randy Jordan, 23, and five other Worcester residents allegedly returned to Lindell’s apartment Sunday, to rob and beat him, MetroWest Daily News in Framingham, Mass., reported.
Several hours after the break-in, police said, Jordan and some of the others returned to check on Lindell’s condition and burned his apartment.
It is not clear if Lindell was dead when his apartment was set on fire.
Jordan and the others pleaded not guilty Monday to charges ranging from murder, arson and breaking and entry.
