FORKS — An unidentified man whose body was found Monday in a creek near downtown Forks apparently drowned sometime last week, officials say.
Preliminary results from an autopsy conducted on the body Tuesday evening indicate the man did not sustain any injuries that might have killed him.
“There were no obvious signs of trauma in the autopsy, which means that the preliminary cause of death is drowning,” Forks Police Chief Mike Powell said Wednesday.
Five Forks residents discovered the body Monday afternoon laying on its back across Peterson’s Creek in about 1½ feet of water, near a wooded area about 200 yards west of the end of West Division Street.
