FORKS — The Police Department has received a grant to purchase a fingerprinting system.
The new Live Scan system will allow fingerprints and palm prints to be scanned or photographed digitally and be instantly submitted to the Washington State Patrol for electronic processing.
The information can also be sent to other law enforcement agencies throughout the United States.
Forks Police Chief Mike Powell said the new system will help officers identify people who give false names and those who may be wanted for other crimes throughout Washington and the other United States.
